A Southwest Washington builder with Oklahoma roots is planning a volunteer trip to help with disaster relief following the May 20 tornado that leveled homes and killed 24 people.

Longview’s Sean Britt is raising money to travel to Moore, Okla., with three of his Brittco Construction employees to aid United Way of Central Oklahoma in rebuilding efforts for three weeks. He said he’s raised about $1,200 of the $3,000 goal.

Moore, a suburb of Oklahoma City, was hit hardest by the EF5 twister, the highest rating on the tornado damage scale.

Britt said he was born in Oklahoma and has family about 100 miles from where the tornado struck.

“It’s weighing heavy on my heart that I go and give back,” he said.

Britt said contributions can be made through Great Escapes Travel, 1347 14th Ave., Longview, or Living Word Christian Center, 1170 17th Ave., Longview.
