Clark men, women soccer top Chemeketa

Bernardino Ayala-Jimenez finished the regular season with a two-goal game as the Clark College men’s soccer team defeated Chemeketa 4-1 on Saturday at Salem, Ore.

Ayala-Jimenez, who scored four goals in Wednesday’s 5-1 win at Pierce, had goals in the 36th and 75th minute Saturday.

Enrique Esparaza and Isaiah McLittle also scored for the Penguins (17-2-1, 12-1-0 NWAACC South).

Clark, the South Division champion, will open the NWAACC tournament in the quarterfinals on Nov. 9 in Vancouver against the winner of Spokane vs. Tacoma.

• The Clark women’s soccer team won 1-0 at Chemeketa to close out the regular season with a 10-8-3 overall record, 10-4-2 overall.

Megan Beal scored in the 60th minute for Clark, and Victoria Fulton recorded the shutout in goal.

Clark will open the first round of the NWAACC tournament on Wednesday at Whatcom in Bellingham.
