STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) — Ray Early kicked a field goal early in the fourth quarter for the final score of the game and a 16-14 Furman come-from-behind victory against Georgia Southern Saturday.

The Paladins (4-5, 3-2 Southern) had traded the lead with Georgia Southern, ending the third quarter trailing 14-13. Early’s 18-yard field goal in the first minute of the fourth capped an 8-minute, 17-play drive for 74 yards down the field.

Tanner Skogen threw the first touchdown of the game with a 75-yard pass to Andrej Suttles for his first TD catch of his career. Early’s extra point was blocked.

The Eagles (4-4, 2-4) responded shortly after with a 1-yard run by Nardo Govan for a TD, taking a 7-6 lead. By halftime, Furman was back in the lead 13-7 after Reese Hannon completed a 54-yard pass for a TD to Ryan Culbreath. Hannon finished with a game-high 150 yards passing.
