ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Bills rookie quarterback EJ Manuel says he’s been cleared for contact and expects to have a shot to return as soon as Sunday, when Buffalo travels to play the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Manuel said Monday he needs approval from coach Doug Marrone, who was scheduled to speak with reporters later in the day.

Manuel has missed four games since spraining his right knee. The Bills (3-6) have gone 1-3 without their rookie first-round pick.

Thad Lewis was promoted from the practice squad and went 1-2 before being sidelined with bruised ribs.

That left Buffalo turning to undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel, who was inconsistent in a 23-13 loss to Kansas City on Sunday.
