Pasco — A 60-year-old former Connell councilwoman has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing $160,000 from the farm where she worked as a bookkeeper.

Monica Lou Pruett was sentenced Tuesday. She pleaded guilty Sept. 24 to one count of first-degree theft.

The Tri-City Herald reported that a Superior Court judge also ordered Pruett to pay approximately $160,000 in restitution.

She was the bookkeeper for D & S Farms in Mesa for more than seven years. Prosecutors say she stole the money to cover personal utility bills, property taxes and business expenses.
