Luge training resumes at Sochi track

SOCHI, Russia (AP) — International luge athletes resumed training Tuesday at the track built for the Sochi Olympics, one day after a power failure kept many sliders off the ice.

USA Luge coach Mark Grimmette said “everything is back in working order.”

American lugers were in the middle of a session when power was lost Monday. Some other national teams had their training sessions canceled entirely, but matters returned to normal a day later.

Luge training continues through Thursday at the track. Training weeks such as this one are vital to Olympic preparation because most international sliders will not see the Sochi track again until the Games in February.

Bobsled and skeleton teams begin training at the track on Friday.
