Bagley Downs — Eagle Scout Cody Ormiston and Boy Scout Troop 14, of Salmon Creek, spent Oct. 25 — a day off for kids in Vancouver Public Schools — replacing rotten boards in picnic tables and park benches, and the message board at Bagley Park. Cody held a garage sale last spring and raised approximately $1,400 for the project; he also rounded up donations from local businesses. In all, Troop 14 rebuilt seven picnic tables, three benches and the message board as well as painting over graffiti. It was one of the largest Eagle projects the city of Vancouver’s Volunteer Coordinator Hailey Heath said she’s ever seen.
