Marie Matthews of Camas soccer was voted The Columbian’s high school fall sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Nov. 2.
Matthews collected 39 percent of the 1,533 votes cast by fans to beat out Nicolette Nesbitt of Woodland, who had 27 percent.
Matthews record eight saves in three shutout victories, including a key, diving saving in the district title match against Union to preserve a 1-0 victory for the Papermakers.
The other nominees were Kyle Degraaff of La Center cross country, Alexis Fuller of Union cross country and Dominik Gorecki of Columbia River tennis.
Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Monday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Thursday.
