ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Nemanja Djurisic scored 12 points, Donte’ Williams added 11 and Georgia beat Wofford 72-52 Friday night in both teams’ season opener.

Spencer Collins finished with 11 points and Lee Skinner had 10 for Wofford.

Georgia coach Mark Fox said he wanted his team to spread the scoring around after last season’s leading scorer, Southeastern Conference Player of the Year Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, left for the NBA.

The Bulldogs were coming off a 15-17 season, their third losing record in four years under Fox, but they never trailed after Kenny Gaines’ jumper made it 14-12 at the 10:03 mark of the first.

After Justin Gordon’s basket cut the lead to two at the 6:25 mark, Georgia outscored Wofford 19-2 to take a 39-20 halftime lead.

Gaines scored eight points over that span, including a tip-in that he scored on the right side of the rim after missing a layup in traffic.
