RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Kendall Anthony hit two free throws with 2 seconds left, edging Richmond past Delaware 71-69 in front of a sellout crowd Friday night.

Delaware’s Devon Saddler’s half-court heave at the buzzer was no good, preserving the win for the Spiders (1-0) who saw an 11-point lead vanish in the final 11 minutes.

Cedrick Lindsay led Richmond with a game-high 20 points, joined in double figures by Alonzo Nelson-Ododa with 13 and Terry Allen with 11. Anthony came off the bench to score nine points.

Delaware, which was behind only by one at halftime, was trailing 53-42 with 11 minutes to play but closed on free throws by Devon Saddler and Jarvis Threatt. Saddler led the Fightin’ Blue Hens with 17 points, Threatt added 14 and Davon Usher 10.

Anthony broke a 63-63 tie with a 3-pointer with 2:46 to play, and again with his game-winning free throws.
