NEW YORK (AP) — Javier Castellano rode six winners at Aqueduct on Saturday.

He won the first five races in which he had a mount, all aboard favorites. He later won the ninth race. He finished sixth in the seventh race and his mount in the eighth race was scratched.

Castellano matched the New York Racing Association record for victories on a card. The feat has been accomplished 20 times at Aqueduct, Saratoga, Belmont Park or the defunct Jamaica Race Course.

The 33-year-old jockey from Venezuela leads the nation in victories with 313 and purses earned with $23.3 million this year. He rode five winners July 13 at Belmont and Sept. 2 at Saratoga.

Last weekend in California, Castellano won the Juvenile Fillies aboard Ria Antonia at the Breeders’ Cup.
