LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Desmond Rice ran for three touchdowns, two in the second quarter, to carry Liberty past Presbyterian, 35-14 Saturday.

The win keeps Liberty (6-4, 3-1 Big South) in the hunt for the conference title, with a potential first-place showdown looming in the regular season finale against first-place Charleston Southern in two weeks.

Josh Woodrum put the Flames on the board early in the first quarter, finding Darrin Peterson with a sideline pass that turned into a 20-yard touchdown. Rice, who carried 22 times for 96 yards, bulled in from the 1 to make it 14-0 in the second quarter, then broke around right end to make it 21-7 at intermission.

Heys McMath fired a nine-yard touchdown pass to Joey Gilkey in the second quarter, then pulled the Blue Hose (3-6, 1-2) to within a touchdown in the third with a four-yard run.
