Loeb, Thompson win USTA/ITA National Indoor titles

NEW YORK (AP) — North Carolina freshman Jamie Loeb and UCLA senior Clay Thompson won the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships singles titles Sunday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Loeb, from Ossining, N.Y., beat UCLA junior Robin Anderson 6-3, 6-2, in the final, and Thompson topped Illinois sophomore Jared Hiltzik 6-4, 7-5.

Columbia’s Max Schnur and Ashok Narayana beat Tennessee’s Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Reese 6-3, 6-2 in the men’s doubles final. Georgia Tech’s Kendal Woodard and Megan Kurey won the women’s doubles title, beating Louisville’s Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
