St. Francis comes back to defeat FAU 59-57

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) —

Wayne Martin scored six of his team’s last nine points, including the game-winning layup with 32 seconds remaining as St.Francis (New York) defeated Florida Atlantic 59-57 Monday.

Martin, who finished with 12 points also grabbed the rebound of a missed 3-pointer by FAU’s Jackson Trapp with three seconds left. Jalen Cannon and Ben Mockford each scored 15.

The win is the second straight thriller in Florida for the visiting Terriers (2-0). The Brooklyn team opened the season by stunning defending ACC champ Miami 66-62 in overtime.

Dragan Sekelja led FAU (1-1) with 21 points and 12 rebounds. The Owls broke away in the second half to lead by as many as 11 but then went cold, scoring only two field goals in a 12-minute span as St. Francis reeled off late runs of 12-2 and 7-2 to lead 50-49 in the final four minutes.
