Dartmouth over powers Massachusets-Lowell 77-59

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — Gabas Maldunas led five players scoring in double figures as Dartmouth ran away from Massachusets-Lowell 77-59 Saturday.

Maldunas finished with 16 points and had career-highs with 17 rebounds and five assists. He converted on 7 of 11 field goals. Connor Boehm had 14 points, Tyler Melville and John Golden each scored 13 and Alex Mitola added 10 for the Big Green (2-1).

Kennedy Chukwuocha’s free throw with 11:41 left in the first half pulled UML (0-3) within two, 17-19. Dartmouth then closed out the first half with a 23-10 run, taking a 42-27 lead into halftime.

The River Hawks used a 16-2 midway through the second half to pull within six, 48-54, with 8:57 to play. Dartmouth, however, responded with a 17-5 run to put the game away.

The Big Green out-rebounded UML 39-19 and shot 54.7 percent from the floor.

Akeem Williams had 16 points in the loss.
