PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — LaDontae Henton and Bryce Cotton scored 18 points apiece and and Kadeem Batts added 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead undefeated Providence to a 70-49 non-conference victory over Vermont Monday night.

The Friars are 4-0 — all at home — to start the season and faces Vanderbilt Friday in the opening round of the Virgin Island Paradise Jam in St. Thomas.

Henton added nine rebounds and Kris Dunn eight assists for the Friars.

Luke Apfeld led the Catamounts (1-3) with 14 points, 12 in the second half. Clancy Rugg had 10 points and 14 rebounds for Vermont, which led 6-2 early before falling behind to stay 3:55 into the game.

The win was the 30th straight for the Friars at home against non-conference opponents – a school mark since the 1979-80 start of the Big East.
