SEATTLE — Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson says the state will receive $610,600 from Google as part of a settlement with 37 states and Washington, D.C.

The money settles allegations that Google altered its coding to circumvent default privacy settings on Apple’s Safari web browser to allow advertisers to set tracking cookies.

The state will use the money from Google for attorney fees and consumer protection education.
