Vancouver Heights — OnPoint Credit Union has donated $5,000 to the College Compass Club (C3), which provides tutoring, mentoring and college readiness help to about 100 students at McLoughlin Middle School each year. The program was previously paid for via a grant from College Spark Washington, a private foundation in Seattle. “The data we’re seeing since this program was implemented is so impressive,” said Superintendent Twyla Barnes of Educational Service District 112. “We couldn’t have continued to operate it without financial contributions like the one OnPoint presented to us.” During the 2012-13 school year, every C3 student showed at least one letter grade improvement in at least one class — and big majorities showed improvements in math and reading scores too.
