OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta has returned to the practice field after being sidelined since July with a hip injury.

Pitta dislocated and fractured his hip on July 27 during training camp. He was carted off the field and had surgery that night to repair the damage.

The Ravens placed Pitta on injured reserve with a designated-to-return tag. Although it initially appeared Pitta was too hurt to play this season, he worked in the training room and his efforts paid off when he joined his teammates at practice on Wednesday.

Coach John Harbaugh says of Pitta: “He’s done a great job with the rehab. It will be interesting to see how he comes along in practice.”

Pitta had 69 catches for 669 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
