Two women were injured Wednesday morning in a crash on state Highway 500 that police say was caused by tailgating.

The crash was reported at 10:57 a.m. on eastbound Highway 500 at St. Johns Boulevard. Linda D. Ruckerjones, 62, of Vancouver was driving her Chrysler minivan behind a BMW X6, driven by Nalleli Aguilar, 26, of Aloha, Ore. The BMW slowed for traffic and was rear-ended by the minivan, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Both drivers were transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, the State Patrol reported. Neither was in the hospital Wednesday night.

Ruckerjones was cited by the State Patrol for following too closely.
