Pesky Salem seagull moves on, just in time

SALEM, Ore. — A pesky seagull that became a nuisance at a Salem office building picked a good time to move on.

The Statesman Journal reports the bird disappeared on its own this week before wildlife officials could carry out a plan to euthanize it.

The gull had repeatedly pecked at the front door of a real estate business. The bird also tore at the welcome mat and landed on nearby cars, leaving messes.

Since the Statesman Journal first ran a story about killing the gull, hundreds of people complained to the paper, wildlife agencies and the First Commercial Real Estate Services. Broker Christie Sullivan says they didn’t want they gull killed; they thought it would be relocated.

Now it apparently has relocated itself. There are no plans to kill it.
