SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have signed cornerback Tramaine Brock to a four-year contract extension through the 2017 season.

The announcement from the reigning NFC champion Niners (6-4) came Friday night, and Brock is expected to move into the starting lineup for Monday night’s game at Washington in place of the injured Tarell Brown. It would be the second career start for Brock after he also started against Houston on Oct. 6.

Brock has shined in an increased role with four interceptions and 18 tackles.

He had 16 tackles and a forced fumble last season and shared the team lead with 15 special teams tackles.

The 25-year-old Brock joined the 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2010. In 2011, he made two interceptions in 11 games.
