Detroit rolls over Florida Atlantic 77-44

DETROIT (AP) — Juwan Howard Jr. and Matthew Grant each scored 14 points as Detroit cruised to a 77-44 win over Florida Atlantic in the sub-regional round of the 2K Sports Classic on Friday night.

Detroit (3-2) and Florida Atlantic (1-4) exchanged baskets early before the Carlton Brundidge’s layup gave Detroit a 17-12 lead and began a 17-8 run to finish the first half. Howard Jr. scored 10 of his 14 points in the half.

Detroit continued to roll in the second half, scoring 45 points and hitting 6 of 9 3-pointers.

The Titans shot 48.1 percent from the field (26 of 54) in the game, led by five field goals apiece from Howard Jr. and Grant.

Anton Wilson and Patrick Onwenu each contributed 11 points for the Titans.

Pablo Bertone had 10 points for the Owls and was the only Florida Atlantic player to reach double figures.
