Letter: Return museum to former guidance

The Columbian
Published: November 22, 2013, 4:00pm

It’s past time to settle the Pearson Air Museum issue and return the museum to the people, and out of the hands of the National Park Service. The Columbian has expressed the importance of the museum and air field to the community and country. Pearson Field is one of the oldest continuous-running airfields in the country.

The Pearson Air Museum was a world-class museum and has grown in the last few years. The displaced museum manager, Laureano Mier, brought regional and national attention to the museum and the city of Vancouver. Mier has continued to develop and grow education from a hangar on Pearson Field. Any doubts of the resolve of employees of the Fort Vancouver National Trust and its volunteers can be resolved at open hangar Saturdays 1 to 5 p.m. at Pearson Field Education Center.
