NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Nick Montana threw for 171 yards and three touchdowns to lead Tulane to a 45-3 win over University of Texas at El Paso Saturday.

This was the final game for Tulane at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, which had been home to Green Wave football since 1975.

Tulane (7-4, 5-2 Conference USA) now has the most wins in a season since finishing 8-5 in the 2002 season.

Tulane took an early lead as Orleans Darkwa, who had 137 yards rushing for the day, ran in from the 20 for the score.

The Green Wave stretched that to 28-0 in the second quarter. UTEP (2-9, 1-6) scored on a Jay Mattox 32-yard field goal. Less than a minute later Montana hit Mark Edwards on a 4-yard scoring strike as Tulane took a 35-3 lead into the half.

Tulane’s Ryan Grant pulled in eight passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
