South Carolina State defeats Voorhees 88-74

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Daryll Palmer had 14 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks on Saturday night to lead South Carolina State over Voorhees 88-74.

SC State (2-4) went on an 11-2 run to lead 63-49 with 9:28 to go and led by no less than eight from there.

Matthew Hezekiah led SC State with 18 points and Koran Wright added 16, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range.

The Bulldogs trailed 43-40 before Adama Adams and Hezekiah scored back-to-back layups to start a 12-0 run in which the Bulldogs took the lead for good.

The teams tied the score eight times in the first half, including 37-37 at the break. SC State was 18 of 33 from the field in the second half while holding Voorhees to 11-of-35 shooting.

Ricardo Rivera had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers. Travis Dupree grabbed 16 rebounds and Allen Dantzler scored 16.
