BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — Reshanda Gray shot 9-of-13 from the field, scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as No. 17 California defeated Northwestern 65-51 on Sunday.

After Cal (3-2) scored the game’s first 9 points, Northwestern (4-1) cut the deficit to 18-17. But Cal never trailed and led by as many as 18 in the second half.

Afure Jemerigbe had 16 points for Cal and Courtney Range led the team in rebounds with 13.

Maggie Lyon had 17 points for Northwestern, which shot just 3-of-17 on 3-pointers.

Gray entered the game as the Pac-12 Conference leader in field goal percentage and was coming off a career-high 24-point performance against George Washington. It was the Golden Bears’ second-straight win after losing two games in a row to then-No. 2 Duke and George Washington.

Cal and Northwestern also met last year as well in Evanston, Ill., a game the Golden Bears won 71-65.
