Jacksonville State defeats Alabama A&M 76-69

NORMAL, Ala. (AP) — Undra Mitchem scored 21 points and sank four 3-pointers as Jacksonville State beat Alabama A&M 76-69 Monday night.

After being tied at halftime, the Gamecocks (2-5) moved out to a 50-42 lead midway through the second half as Nick Cook hit a layup and four free throws.

Alabama A&M (1-4) climbed back to cut the deficit to two with a Jose Long jumper, but Jacksonville State answered with a Brian Williams jumper and a 3-pointer by Mitchem. Williams added four free throws and Darion Rackley nailed a 3-pointer to put the Gamecocks up by nine with 1:09 remaining.

Mitchem was 7 of 11 from the field, while DJ Felder and Williams each scored 14 points.

The Bulldogs held a slight advantage in field goal percentage as they shot 49.1 to Jacksonville State’s 46.6, but also committed 23 fouls. They were paced by Brandon Ellis with 20 points.
