Ridgefield — Civil Affairs Sgt. Greg Wubben, from Ridgefield, was sent this month to New Zealand for the second time in less than two years. He was last there in June 2012 to take part in a World War II anniversary celebration. Now he’s in the country to participate in exercises meant to improve combat training and readiness, according to an article by the military’s Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System.

The Marine serves on the 1st Civil Affairs Group, which acts as a liaison between civilians and the military.

“I thought it was a once in a million opportunity,” he said about his current post in the DVIDS report. “I never thought I’d be back.”
