Central Michigan holds off Texas A&M CC, 68-64

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Blake Hibbitts scored 15 points and drilled a clutch 3-pointer with 13 seconds left in the game to spark Central Michigan’s 68-64 win at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tuesday.

The Chippewas had a nine-point lead evaporate midway through the second half and the Islanders took a 64-62 lead on a 3-pointer by Jelani Currie with :25 left.

Hibbits answered with a 3-point basket to put Central Michigan up, 65-64. Austin Keel converted a pair of free throws with five seconds left and Rayshawn Simmons hit the first of two for the final margin of victory.

Chris Fowler had 13 points and five assists and John Simmons added 11 points and nine rebounds for Central Michigan (4-1).

Zane Knowles led the Islanders (3-5) with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jeff Beverly contributed another 10 points.
