Severe leads Fordham over Manhattan 79-75

RIVERDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Jon Severe scored a career-high 30 points and two others scored in double figures to lead Fordham to a 79-75 victory over Manhattan Tuesday night.

Severe has scored 19 points or more in each of his five games. His 28 points in Fordham’s opener is a school record for a freshman debut.

Severe hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 70 with 4:39 remaining, sparking a 9-5 run for Fordham (3-2) to end the game. Branden Frazier scored four of his 21 points in the final minute. Mandell Thomas scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds.

Donovan Kates made a 3-pointer to give Manhattan a 58-56 lead at the 11:12 mark, and the Jaspers would lead by as many as six points before Severe’s game-tying 3-pointer.

George Beamon led Manhattan (3-2) with 24 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Rhamel Brown added 12 points for the Jaspers.
