CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) — Trey Sumler scored 14 of his game-high 28 points in the final three minutes as Western Carolina rallied from 11 down in the second half to defeat D-II Limestone 78-69 on Tuesday night.

Sumler, who was named Southern Conference player-of-the-week earlier Tuesday, converted a three-point play to force a tie and then added a fast-break dunk with 1:08 remaining in the game to give the Catamounts (5-4) the lead for the first time since 2:57 of the first half. His 28 points is seven shy of his career-best 35 from Nov. 22.

The Saints (4-2) scored 13 of the first 17 points after halftime and held onto their upset bid until Sumler caught fire in the final 3:15. PJ Foster scored 22 for Limestone, Josh Odem 16, Assad Woods 13 and Shaq Dance had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Tom Tankelewicz scored 18 for Western Carolina and Mike Brown 10.
