Jacksonville St. rallies 78-66 vs. Fort Valley St.

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Brian Williams came off the bench to score a game-high 25 points on Wednesday as Jacksonville State defeated Division II Fort Valley State 78-66.

Fort Valley State went on a 23-11 run to start off the second half, and led 56-47 with 11:22 left to play. Williams scored five straight points, and a layup by DJ Felder and another jumper by Williams put the Gamecocks within four. Jacksonville State (3-5) made 9 of 12 free throws in the final six minutes of the game to take back the lead and seal the win. Williams scored 17 of his 25 points in the second half.

Brandon Davey led the Wildcats (3-3) with 20 points and Nigel Domineck (15) and Joshuah Davis (12) both finished in double figures. Fort Valley State shot 51 percent from the field but was just 26.7 percent (4 of 15) from behind the arc.
