LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Shawn Long scored 22 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as Louisiana-Lafayette rolled up its highest point total of the season in a 105-74 victory over Northwestern State on Wednesday night.
Xavian Rimmer added 20 points and Kasey Shepherd 17 for the Ragin’ Cajuns (5-2), who shot 53.2 percent from the floor. They also shot 46 free throws, making 29.
Long’s double-double was his fourth this season and the 22nd of his career. He also blocked four shots.
Northwestern (2-3) had four double players in double figures with Jalan West leading with 16. DeQuan Hicks and Brison White added 11 apiece and Zikiteran Woodley 10. The Demons were outrebounded 50-31.
Louisiana took its first lead at 11 minutes into the game and then outscored Northwestern State by 17 points the rest of the half for a 55-36 lead. It led by as many as 35 in the second half.
