MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Zurlon Tipton ran for four touchdowns on Friday to lead Central Michigan in a 42-10 victory over Eastern Michigan and become bowl eligible in the Mid-American Conference for the second-straight season.
Tipton ran for 216 yards and scored back-to-back-to-back touchdowns in the first half to jump the Chippewas (6-6, 5-3) to a 21-0 lead. His third touchdown was on an 86-yard run and he finished the half with 134 yards.
Eastern Michigan (2-10, 1-7) drove down the field for 85 yards in 55 seconds to score its first touchdown, making the score 21-10, before the end of the first half.
Central Michigan’s Courtney Williams ran back the opening kickoff of the second half for an 84-yard touchdown, marking the Chippewas first kickoff return for a touchdown since January 6, 2010.
Another TD run by Tipton and Avery Cunningham’s 75-yard pick for a touchdown concluded Central Michigan’s scoring.
