CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — K.J. McDaniels scored 22 points and added seven rebounds as Clemson continued its hot start and got some much-needed revenge against Coastal Carolina in a 69-40 win Friday.

The Tigers (6-1) scored the game’s first 13 points. The Chanticleers (2-5) missed their first 11 shots from the field before Josh Cameron’s short jumper with 10:35 left in the half.

Clemson held a 33-21 halftime lead following a mostly dominant first half.

Coastal closed to within 35-25 with 15:32 left, but Clemson sealed the game with an 11-2 run ignited by a McDaniels jumper and a McDaniels steal and feed to Rod Hall for a dunk. Devin Coleman added 14 points.

Coastal Carolina (2-5) had beaten the Tigers in each of the last two seasons, taking a 60-59 buzzer-beating win on the road in 2011 and whipping Clemson 69-46 a year ago at home.

Elijah Wilson led Coastal with 16 points.
