Hawaii pulls away from Montana 72-61

HONOLULU (AP) — Christian Standhardinger scored 26 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead Hawaii to a 72-61 win over Montana Friday night.

Hawaii (5-2) jumped out to a 24-8 lead to open the game. Standhardinger scored 8 points to spark that run.

Montana (1-3) fought back, closing the gap to 31-25 at half time. Kareem Jamar scored 5 quick points to open the second half, and Montana tied the game at 33 on a Keron DeShields at the 18-minute mark.

Hawaii once again responded, running off an 11-2 run and taking a 45-35 lead with 12:29 left. Standhardinger once again led the way, scoring 4 points in that stretch. Montana did not get within 8 points for the rest of the game.

Brandon Spearman and Issac Fotu each scored 13 for Hawaii.

Jamar paced the Grizzlies with 16 points while DeShields added 11.
