CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson will miss his second straight game with a sprained knee, and DeAngelo Williams and two other Carolina running backs are questionable for Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay.

Of the three running backs, Williams remains the biggest concern with a thigh contusion. He has not practiced all week.

Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert are also questionable, but both practiced Friday on a limited basis. If Williams can’t play, rookie Kenjon Barner from Oregon likely would be activated.

Also, guard Chris Scott (knee) is listed as out, tight end Ben Hartsock (knee) is doubtful and linebacker Chase Blackburn (foot) is questionable for Sunday.

Wide receiver Steve Smith, who was given Thursday off to rest his knee, returned to practice Friday and is probable.
