Portland homeless camp to move to Pearl District

PORTLAND — Commissioners are expected to approve a zoning change Thursday to allow a homeless camp to move into the Pearl District, under a Broadway Bridge onramp.

The Right 2 Dream Too camp has to move from its current location because the property owner wants to sell.

The Bureau of Development Services says the camp does not need a land use review or building permits because it qualifies as a community service.

City Commissioner Amanda Fritz told The Oregonian that she understands Pearl District neighbors are concerned but they don’t have the right to stop it.
