Justin Straup of Evergreen was voted The Columbian's high school football player of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 28.
Straup collected 43 percent of the 676 votes cast by fans to beat out Justin Smalley of Battle Ground, who had 27 percent.
Straup rushed for 191 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns in Evergreen's win over Kelso.
The other nominess were Jacob Dennis of Skyview, Aryrrius Presley of Hudson's Bay and Eli Whitmire of Woodland.
Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Saturday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Players may be elected player of the week once per month, and no player can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
