Sifton — A small group of four-legged V.I.P. visitors — plus their human handlers — from Guiding Eyes of Clark County visited the Vancouver Fire Department’s Sifton station on Sept. 21. Guiding Eyes is a voluntary group that does the earliest stages of training for future guide dogs for the blind. The dogs “were exposed to firefighters in full firefighting equipment, sirens, flashing lights and air horns to help acclimate them to the sights and sounds of the real world they will be functioning in,” said VFD Capt. Bill Garlington. “It was a very interesting visit (and) they are invited back anytime.”
