Letter: Befuddled by leaders’ inefficiency

The Columbian
Published: October 1, 2013, 5:00pm

I am constantly assaulted by the inefficiency of our governments, both local and national, as I’m sure others are as well. Evidently, this is nothing new, even though we seem to think it is so.

To prove this point, I am sharing a quote from Mark Twain that I have in my den/office and read quite often. I hope it eases some of my other confused, befuddled and angry citizens and gives you a laugh as well.

“Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it” — Mark Twain.

Anyone have an answer to that question?
