BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) — ESPN has ended the X Games in four international cities because of the cost.

The network said Thursday it will discontinue the competition in Munich; Barcelona, Spain; and Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. All three hosted events for the first time this summer. The Winter X Games also will end after four years in Tignes, France.

ESPN says the “overall economics of these events do not provide a sustainable future path.”

The network adds that it remains committed to the X Games in Aspen, Colo., and Austin, Texas — its newest host city — and will continue showing the competition internationally.

At the X Games in Aspen in January, snowmobiler Caleb Moore’s 450-pound sled rolled over him during the freestyle competition. He died a week later.
