COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency says shot putter Jillian Camarena-Williams has accepted a six-month suspension after testing positive for a banned substance.

The 31-year-old Camarena-Williams tested positive for Clomiphene, a prohibited hormone, in an out-of-competition test on July 1.

Camarena-Williams said in a statement on Friday: “This past June, after being unable to compete due to injury, my husband and I decided to start a family. Shortly thereafter I began taking a prescribed fertility medication called Clomiphene under the care of my doctor. Since being advised of my positive test, I have cooperated fully with USADA and the IAAF and have now been granted a TUE (therapeutic use exemption) for this medication.”

Camarena-Williams earned a bronze medal at the 2011 world championships. She’s also a three-time U.S. outdoor champion.
