The Union Titans train keeps on rolling.

Its head engine, a 215-pound locomotive named Leon Siofele, keeps gaining steam.

Clark County’s leading rusher had 285 yards and four touchdowns as Union rolled over Heritage, 41-0, Friday at McKenzie Stadium.

Union’s win on the opening week of Class 4A Greater St. Helens League play was its third in a row. The Titans (4-1, 1-0) didn’t allow Heritage (2-3, 0-1) within 30 yards of the end zone until the final play of the third quarter.

Siofele had touchdown runs of 49, 29, 25 and 8 yards. Siofele leads all Clark County players in rushing yards (1,070) and rushing TDs (11).

“My mindset was to keep pushing,” Siofele said. “We were trying to play at a fast tempo.”

For Siofele, getting rolling was made easier by an offensive line that cleared the way. Siofele singled out starting linemen Josh Lee, Aaron Anderson, Tate Nelson, Connor Wong and Noah Campbell.

“It pumps us up seeing him break tackles,” said Anderson, a 275-pound senior guard. “It gets us going seeing him go.”

Nine of Siofele’s 23 carries went for 10 yards or longer, including six of his first eight. By halftime, the senior had 149 yards on 14 carries as the Titans methodically built a 24-0 lead.
