McNeese St. defeats Central Arkansas 59-28

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Cody Stroud threw three touchdown passes and Ryan Bronson had a 98-yard interception touchdown return to help McNeese State roll past Central Arkansas 59-28 in a Southland Conference matchup Saturday night.

Stroud had touchdowns passes of 41, 40, and 28 yards for the Cowboys (5-1, 1-0 Southland). He was 13 of 19 for 277 yards, and becomes the fourth player in school history to surpass 6,000 career passing yards.

The Cowboys had 595 yards of total offense, and have scored over 50 points for the third time this season.

The Bears (2-3, 0-1) tied the game at 21 in the second quarter when Wynrick Smothers connected with Damien Watts for a 39-yard touchdown. McNeese State countered with three unanswered touchdowns, highlighted by wide receiver Diontae Spencer throwing a 46-yard TD to Jereon McGilvery.

Smothers was 35 of 65 for 484 yards, but had three interceptions.
