Winterhawks suffer 2nd straight loss at Kelowna

For the second consecutive night, the Portland Winterhawks gave up six goals in losing to the Kelowna Rockets, this time 6-3 on Saturday at Cranbrook, B.C.

Kelowna (5-0-0-1) won 6-2 over the Winterhawks (3-3-0-1) on Friday.

Portland led 2-0 early on goals by Oliver Bjorkstrand and Brendan Leipsic. But later in the period, Kelowna responded with three goals in a span of 1:55 to take a 3-2 lead into the second period.

Down 4-2, Portland got back within 4-3 on a shorthanded goal from Taylor Leier 6:59 into the third period.

Vipers lose — The Vancouver Vipers fell to 0-3 on in the Northern Pacific Hockey League with a 4-0 loss to the Tri-City Outlaws on Saturday at Mountain View Ice Arena.
