Man, 24, dies in shootout with Wenatchee police



WENATCHEE — A 24-year-old man has died following an exchange of gunfire with police in Wenatchee.

Chelan County Undersheriff John Wisemore says the man fired at two officers when they tried to take him into custody on an outstanding felony warrant Saturday. He says the officers returned fire, hitting the man. He died at the scene. Neither officer was injured.

KPQ reports that the officers were at the home earlier that day on a medical call. They had returned to the home about 2 p.m. to arrest the man on the outstanding warrant.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol are investigating the shooting.
