Cape Horn-Skye Elementary students were jumping, running, tossing and throwing to earn money for their school recently as a part of the Booster Club’s annual Sport-a-Thon fund raiser.

Students set goals to complete a variety of activities such as football tosses, basketball shots, and Frisbee throws, with friends and family sponsoring them with donations.

The three-day event kicked off with the youngest students.

“The kindergartners have a carnival style format with fifth-grade students as escorts,” said Kim Daniels, physical education teacher. “We depend on the kindness and support of our older students to ensure the kindy children enjoy the event. A variety of activities keep them interested and active.

“The parent helpers are also a valuable part of the success of the Sport-a-Thon. Everyone has a great time,” she continued.

All money pledged goes back to the school.

The Sport-a-Thon is the school’s largest fundraiser. This year, $6,347 was raised.
