McCoy, Williamson advance to US Mid-Amateur final.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Michael McCoy and Bill Williamson each won two matches Wednesday at the Country Club of Birmingham to advance to the U.S. Mid-Amateur final.

The 50-year-old McCoy, from West Des Moines, Iowa, routed Bradley Bastion of Clinton Township, Mich., 7 and 6 in the morning quarterfinals, and beat Kevin Marsh of Henderson, Nev., 4 and 3 in the afternoon semifinals.

The 36-year-old Williamson, from Cincinnati, pounded Matt Schneider of Grand Rapids, Minn., 8 and 6 in the quarterfinals, and topped Kenneth McCready of San Diego 2 and 1 in the semifinals.

The tournament is limited to players 25 and older.
